Medusa is one of the most meaningful works within the universe of The Machine in the Botanical Garden. Although it was composed before the project officially existed, its creation was the seed that gave rise to everything that followed.
The piece features the Medusa synthesizer by Polyend/Dreadbox, the Access Virus TI Snow, and a string orchestra written in StaffPad. This fusion of synthesis and orchestral writing marked the beginning of a journey that would define the sonic and conceptual identity of the garden.
The track was originally released on the album Sketchbook under the parallel project Juan Ramos Music, and is still available on major digital platforms. Today, Medusa has been adopted as a plant transplanted from another garden into this one, because deep down, this was always its true home.
The composition also marked a turning point: while there was already a strong connection with the Virus TI Snow, this piece deepened the bond with Medusa —as a synthesizer, as an instrument, and as a symbol within the project.
